ADELAIDE, SA: 5th September 2018 - The Land Forces 2018 Exhibition stand of Horizon Defence Systems – the new Australian in Prime Systems Integration – has been officially opened today by Rear Admiral (Rtd), Raydon Gates AO, CSM, former Chief Executive of Lockheed Martin Australia.

Horizon Defence Systems (Stand 3G2) is a cross-industry collaboration of 14 Australian defence enterprises focused on bringing the best in ideas, skills and technologies to enhance soldier performance and safety within the delivery of sovereign capabilities to the ADF.

The corporate Alliance has aggregate turnover of A$125 million per annum and currently sustains over 400 jobs nationwide. Further details of Horizon Defence Systems operations and corporate membership can be found at

Speaking during the opening ceremony, Admiral Gates remarked how pleased he was “to see a group of Australian enterprises standing up to work collaboratively in pursuit of prime vendor contracts in the Land Domain.”

To mark the official opening of the Horizon Defence Systems stand at Land Forces 2018, Admiral Gates presented Luke Fegen – a former Special Forces soldier and now Director of SORD Australia - with a specially engraved contract signature pen.

In presenting the appropriately ‘green’ pen to Mr Fegen, Admiral Gates added, “May it serve Horizon Defence Systems well and find its first practical use in the not too distant future.”

Thanking Admiral Gates for his comments and the gift of a contract signature pen, Mr Fegen said “Horizon’s corporate Alliance model has created a unique environment where Australian enterprises are comfortable in sharing ideas and experience that will ultimately end up benefitting Australia’s combat forces.”
